On Wednesday, May 14, Pere Valls and I participated in the networking day dedicated to the packaging sector, held in Sant Pere de Riudebitlles. This meeting, organized by the city council of the municipality with the collaboration of the Alt Penedès Regional Council, is part of the project Work, Talent and Technology: Digitalizing Alt Penedès and brought together key companies in the region with the aim of sharing challenges, opportunities and future lines of collaboration.

The session served to highlight a strategic sector for the region, which represents 12.5% ​​of Alt Penedès' GDP, with an annual turnover of 619 million euros and more than 1,400 jobs.

From Pere Valls, we had the opportunity to present some of our recent initiatives, such as investing in sustainability through the use of biomass to reduce energy consumption and the commitment to the digitalization of our production process. These actions are part of our commitment to innovate and move towards a more efficient and environmentally friendly model.

The conference also brought to the table several challenges shared by the sector, such as the lack of qualified personnel, logistical and mobility difficulties, and the need to give greater visibility to good sustainable practices. In addition, the growth of the sector, driven by e-commerce and the demand for more technologically advanced packaging solutions, was highlighted.

We would like to thank the organization of this initiative and celebrate the willingness to collaborate between public administrations, companies and training centers, such as the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, which presented the proposal to create technological microcredentials adapted to the needs of our sector.
