This Wednesday, we had the opportunity to attend the presentation of the 2024-2025 academic year of the Professions de Futur project, one of the most outstanding programs of the UEA Foundation. This project seeks to bring the young people of the Anoia region closer to the world of work, facilitating their professional orientation and offering them a clear vision of the opportunities available to them. This year has been particularly relevant, with more than 1900 students participating, almost 60 sessions taught, 13 educational centers involved and 37 companies and professional volunteers who have collaborated with the project.

This project is essential for young people to understand the opportunities offered by the local industry, as well as the values ​​and challenges that define the business fabric of Anoia. This exchange of experiences not only benefits the students, but also helps us companies to make ourselves known and make our work visible to society, establishing a network of collaboration that strengthens the bond between young people, the companies and institutions of Anoia.

In Pere Valls, we have had the privilege of participating in this 2024 with a session in the Intermediate and Advanced Chemistry, Milà and Fontanals training cycles. During this day, we brought the students closer to the different sectors where chemistry plays a fundamental role, offering them a practical and real view of the processes and applications of chemistry in industry. Likewise, we are very excited to continue collaborating on this project also during 2025.

As every year since 2014, in Pere Valls we have voluntarily offset all controllable direct and indirect CO2 emissions that we have emitted during the year 2023, such as those generated by water consumption, the use of forklifts or purification waste of the paper pulp.

After nine consecutive years, at Pere Valls we remain committed to reducing CO2 emissions as a fundamental pillar of our environmental commitment to society and the planet.

Yesterday we participated in the II Catalonia Circular Congress, the annual meeting point for public and private sector agents committed to the consolidation of the circular economy in Catalonia.

This year, the congress focused on circular business models with case studies of companies, such as the case of Pere Valls.

At Pere Valls we give value to our waste to give it a second life and prevent it from ending up in landfill. The waste paper and cardboard that we use as raw materials are turned into new products, the ashes from the biomass boiler are used to make mortar and the water filtration sludge is used for the manufacture of cement.

This week we had the pleasure of participating in the #Hispack international packaging exhibition, the most important meeting point for the packaging sector in southern Europe.

During four days, customers and professionals have passed by our stand in the salon, where we have had the opportunity to present our new packaging line.

Last March we participated in a FPChemistry session within the Future Professions project of theUnió Empresarial de l'Anoia to introduce the paper sector to the students of the chemistry training cycles of the Milà i Fontanals institute.

We are very happy to have participated in this project and we thank the Unió Empresarial de l'Anoia for giving us the opportunity to make our sector known.

As every year and following the company’s commitment to reduce emissions already started in July 2014, Pere Valls, S.A. has voluntarily compensated all direct and indirect CO2 emissions controllable (water and waste) generated this past 2022, a total of 323 tonnes of CO2. This environmental commitment is being developed for the seventh consecutive year.

Part 1 of the photovoltaic installation progresses. This project started during the mont of April consists of 4 parts, of which the frist is about to end. 

PERE VALLS, S.A. communicates that it has voluntarily calculated its carbon footprint and has offset for the fifth consecutive year the CO2 emissions generated in 2020. This calculation of the Carbon Footprint has been verified by the Applus certifier following the ISO 14064-1 standard for scopes 1 (direct emissions, derived from the consumption of fossil fuels, biomass and fugitive emissions of fluorinated gases), scope 2 (indirect emissions derived from the consumption of electrical energy) and scope 3 (indirect emissions derived from the consumption of water and waste management generated).

Obtaining this certification deepens the company's environmental commitment as it did a few months ago with obtaining EMAS certification.

PERE VALLS, S.A. is pleased to inform you that it has obtained the EMAS certification (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme - Community Regulation of Eco-management and Eco-Audit). This record represents the highest valuation of our Environmental Management System, and is the result of the effort of our entire Organization to contribute to the preservation and conservation of the environment in the development of our activity. In this way, we are the second Catalan company in the paper industry to achieve this European recognition for our good behavior and good environmental management, following our ideals of treating our environment with the care and respect it deserves.

Last Tuesday, June 4th, Jordi Valls assisted as a speaker in the technical journey: "Energy eficiency, renewable and saving for the company" organized by Unió Empreserial de l'Anoia and helded in Igualada.

Last Friday, April 12th, Jordi Valls assisted as speaker in the biomass technical journey: "Forest biomass impulse for thermal use in the industrial sector of Vallès" helded in Barbarà del Vallès.

Last Saturday, December 1st, the official inauguration of the mill wheel took place, after finishing its restoration in the last months. An open day was held for workers and family members, suppliers, companies in the sector and local administration. The event was broadcasted by Ona Bitlles radio station live, in the same premises of PERE VALLS. Attached to the post, the link of the interviews with Pere Joan Valls and Jordi Valls, among others.

During the month of November, the installation and the corresponding training with CARDIOSOS has been carried out to the personnel involved in the emergency plan, in basic life support topics with the automated external defibrillator. With this action PERE VALLS, it shows the commitment with the cardioprotection of the workers.

The Catalan Office for Climate Change publishes the compensation made by PERE VALLS, S.A. in a totally voluntary way, of CO2 emissions generated in 2017. So that the company is considered carbon neutral, for the second consecutive year.

During the month of August, PERE VALLS, S.A. has made a considerable investment replacing the previous manual system of transmission of the paper machine, to a system of automatic multi-motor drive SIEMENS, as technical improvement of industrial safety, production and energy efficiency.

PERE VALLS is already a member of the platform integrated by paper bag manufacturers to promote the responsible use of paper bags, disseminate their environmental benefits and promote their consumption.

The project of the biomass boiler of PERE VALLS appears in the energy search engine of the ICAEN: it is a tool that collects projects of saving and energy efficiency developed successfully and pedagogical resources to train, sensitize and disseminate the good use of the energy, in the educational field. This search engine is a living tool conceived to be able to grow through the contribution of new projects and resources by professionals and users.

Raquel Talavera took part in the television magazine "Anem per feina" of the Canal Taronja Anoia, which commented on the economic context of the paper industry, according to the recent Maqpaper 2018 Fair, along with investments in environmental improvement and internationalization bets made in the framework of the paper manufacturing industry.

Participation of Jordi Valls in the seminar organized by the Pro Penedès Foundation and the Mancomunitat Penedès-Garraf to share and expose the experiences of energy self-generation in companies in the region and the progress towards a new energy model. In the magazine nº 42 of December 2017 of the Business Union of the Anoia, an interview was published with Jordi Valls and Pere Joan Valls; in which we talk about the origins of the company, the values throughout the 11 family generations and the commitment to the environment.

In the framework of the environmental commitment and the fight against climate change, the Catalan Office for Climate Change points to the compensation of all 2016 CO2 emissions from PERE VALLS; and publicly states that it is a carbon-free company.

Unió Empresarial de l'Anoia has created a Circular Economy Working Group composed of representatives of paper, chemical, fertilizers, textile, environmental consultancies and the Igualada Engineering School (EEI). The scope of use of some or other environmental resources may be considered by a multitude of companies located in neighboring counties such as Bages, Baix Llobregat or Penedès. On the other hand, the working group will also participate in a project of a circular strategy on a Catalan scale led by the Department of environment of Foment del Treball, and formed by several territorial business organizations.

ASPAPEL publishes in its November bulletin that PERE VALLS is already a carbon neutral company because it has voluntarily compensated all the CO2 emissions generated in 2016, both the direct ones corresponding to the consumption of natural gas, as well as the indirect ones. Through this compensation made on October 20 through the European System of Negotiation of CO2 (SENDECO), PERE VALLS can claim that it is a "carbon neutral" company and that it remains faithful to its environmental policy of respecting the environment, offering the better return.

On March 31st, Jordi Valls representing PERE VALLS, S.A. attended the meeting organized by the Unió Empresarial de l'Anoia, in which some of the objectives and challenges of the paper industry in the area were discussed and brought together.

The article discusses the history of the Valls family and the current situation of the company, in relation to the roles it currently manufactures and the commitment of environmental quality acquired by the Management.

The article exposes the oldest companies of Spain according to publication of Forbes magazine; although PERE VALLS, S.A. it does not appear in the list it is exposed that it is the oldest trash of the Penedés, since the origins of the same go back to the s.XVI.

Article published in the newsletter LA FURA, where it is mentioned that today, in relation to the 29 mills that in the eighteenth century had assets in the Mediona-Riudebitlles basin, only the mill of Cal Jan remains active in the same site where four centuries before it was built.
